“Artists are visionaries.  We routinely practice a form of faith,
seeing clearly and moving toward a creative goal that shimmers in the
distance - often visible to us, but invisible to those around us.
Difficult as it is to remember, it is our work that creates the
market, not the market that creates our work.  Art is an act of faith,
and we practice practicing it.  Sometimes we are called on pilgrimages
on its behalf and, like many pilgrims, we doubt the call even as we
answer it.  But answer we do.”

I dabbled in yoga for years but never really committed myself.  I did the same with jewelry, but managed to start my own business Ole Licorice Designs.  I enjoyed doing both but there was always a 'block' of sorts preventing me to experience my creativity at its fullest potential.  A few years back, my marriage ended and I hit my 'bottom'.  It would seem that everything I had worked for as a mother and wife was being swept away violently.  I sought refuge in yoga and became a 200hr certified hatha yoga teacher.  I was also trained in transcendental meditation by a Ayurvedic teacher from the Maharashi Institute, and my life and more importantly, my perspective of  my life began to change. I began to feel alive in my body again, and the creativity began to flow...this time with a purpose.  When I make a mala, it is a meditation for me.  I set an intention for it by choosing stones that promote certain healing properties.  The tassels are also handmade with twelve wraps for the Vedic twelve houses and bound together with a tie string five times for the five elements.  Fun fact:  My 8 year old daughter holds each tassel on every mala made, so that I may tie the tassel string tight.  To me, this represents the importance of the sangha.

All the malas I make are made with good will and much metta.  I hope you find one that resonates with you.  I do make custom upon request.  You can email me at for more information.

Peace and love,
